Went fishing today. I started at the "popular spot" because it's close by and a short walk from the parking spot. There were lots of panfish nibbling on my lures and too many lures to float a mice tail effectively. Will try a bobber here next time to float the bait over the weeds.
So I moved to a different spot of the same lake. Soaked bait with one rod and tossing out lures with the other. I've caught some huge brook trout with lures at this spot before but no joy.
Then I snapped on a Thomas Buoyant lure in firetiger color and caught a feisty brookie on the third cast. It pecked at the spoon a couple times and I thought, pause or set the hook? Pause or set? So I paused it for a second then it got bit then I set it.
